BCDEDIT : The requested system device cannot be found

0

I screwed up big time when for some sort of reason I unchecked the number of processors on msconfig. Now I cant boot. I have found a solution but CMD keeps giving me :

The boot configuration data store could not be opened. The requested system device cannot be found.

. What I planned on doing : http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_7-system/windows-7-0x00000074-startup-blue-screen/e9e412ae-013c-4fb7-93a4-e369dd1718dc?page=1

I have already created a Windows PE CD. Any ideas? ( let it be noted that in the PE , the path always starts with X:/... although my drives were different letters . not sure if that is important though... ) Any help appreciated.
