Is there a justifiable reason for Windows not allowing to remove Edge?

As one can see in answers to this question, there used to be ways to remove Microsoft Edge.

Somewhat recently, though, Microsoft has changed some things and there really isn't any known way to remove Edge from the system, only "disable" it. The directory where Edge is installed and the files within can't be removed; access is denied and can't be gained. Trying to remove it with Remove-AppxPackage, the relevant part of the error message reads:

error 0x80070032: AppX Deployment Remove operation on package Microsoft.MicrosoftEdge_44.18362.449.0_neutral__8wekyb3d8bbwe from: C:\WINDOWS\SystemApps\Microsoft.MicrosoftEdge_8wekyb3d8bbwe failed. This app is part of Windows and cannot be uninstalled on a per-user basis. An administrator can attempt to remove the app from the computer using Turn Windows Features on or off. However, it may not be possible to uninstall the app.

If someone knows a way to actually remove Edge, it would be much appreciated, but the main intent of this post is the following question.

Why is this? Why is Microsoft making it very hard, if not outright impossible to remove some applications, Edge in particular? I need Windows for some of my work and don't like the feel of not having control over my system. Is this necessary? Is it just a money-driven attempt to force adoption or is Edge, a web browser, justifiably an essential part of the OS?
