After Windows 10 reset I am unable to roll back to previous version despite having old.window folder/files

-2

I messed up my registry. I was unable to do a system restore, so I tried to do a System Reset, which is like an upgrade in place.

The new install is still acting weird so I want to revert it back to the original install I had, I still have my old.windows files on my hdd. I can even run the portable versions of applications. When I go to recovery tools and select "revert to previous version" it runs and acts like it will do it and then it fails, and does not tell me why it failed.

I know that it is possible to revert to a previous version from a System Reset because I am able to see my old.windows folders and because of this forum post confirming this:

https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_10-update/is-it-possible-to-undo-a-system-reset-in-windows/2dc517be-a037-422a-8e51-9548ec593a0f

WHY is my OS unable to recover the old.windows install.

Also I already tried calling Microsoft and I got shuffled around for an hour by people who didn't have any answers. They're used to helping grandmas who can't install their printer drivers, and when I tried asking for help on this they told me they didn't have an answer. I'm a developer, I am technically savvy enough to get myself into this mess, I just need some help getting out.

EDIT Adding some logs found in the root folder under a folder called $SysResetLogs. May shed some light on why the system isn't reverting properly.

Hey Greg,

I did some more snooping and I found some logfiles related to the error for reverting to the previous version. Found in a folder in the root folder under $SysResetLogs
