fresh install xp pro sp3, new hd, get bsod after final boot 0x0000007b, pc had been running ok

Two hp pcs, both had been running xp pro sp3 fine, not conn to web at all. Then blue screen stop 0x0000007b. cant even boot safe mode. started w new hd, reinstalled xp. after admin pw, time zone etc, final reboot, get blue screen. tried diff install cd, same. tried to install win 7pro and it worked. same w ubuntu 17.01. doesn't look like hardware issue. looks like ms end of life is being forced.

I really need xp to run special software, all off line. anyone else having this issue? thanks, seekertom
