Windows 7 install from USB results in error 0xc000000d right away

I've seen plenty of people struggling with the same problem when trying to install Win7 from an USB stick, but none of the fixes seem to apply to me: My BIOS does not allow legacy boot. My questions are therefore:

  1. Does it look like my PC is fundamentally incompatible with Win7 due to its reliance on UEFI only? I haven't used Windows in Years, and never on this PC, so I don't know if I should blame Win7 or my hardware. In other words: I'm not sure if Win7 even supports UEFI boot.

  2. Would finding a USB DVD Rom and try to install from an actual DVD change anything, or is it likely that it'll result in the same error? (I'd rather have an indication beforehand, as said DVD Rom is on the other side of town)

For the record:

  • Brand new Clevo N870HP6 which runs newer linux distros just fine.
  • The disk is a relatively vanilla 800Gb SATA disk (The NVME disk that came with it has been unplugged)
  • The installation medium is a generic USB 2.0 stick created using Rufus. A different PC with legacy boot support boots the installation medium just fine.
