Why doesn't my Adobe Audition CS6 run under Windows 10?

I'm attempting to use Adobe Audition (from Adobe Master Collection CS6) in Windows 10, but each time I try to open it I see:

Adobe Audition CS6.exe - Application Error: The application was unable to start correctly (0xc000007b). Click OK to close the application.

Any ideas how I make get it to work?
