0x80070005 Access is denied - Group Policy - Printers


We've been running into this error across our network:

The user 'NameOfPrinter' preference item in the 'NameOfGroupPolicy' Group Policy Object did not apply because it failed with error code '0x80070005 Access is denied.' This error was suppressed.

The printers will still map but we keep getting this error every time group policy updates. This sometimes causes the default printer to keep resetting to local printer.

Researching online I've found a couple of common suggestions:

  • Running in logged on user's security context
  • Authenticated Users have access to both the printer and that policy

We've verified both of those settings are still getting this error.

Does anyone have any other suggestions we can try or look for?
