Trouble Printing to Shared Printer Over VPN From Server 2008R2

0

My Setup:

  • Main office with multiple PCs running Windows 10 Pro, multiple printers (both locally set-up and shared and also a PC to act as a print server for high usage printers) and a server running Windows Server 2008 R2 acting as a terminal server.
  • Remote location with multiple PCs running Windows 10 Pro and several Zebra label printers all set-up and shared from their local PCs.
  • VPN Site-To-Site Tunnel linking the two networks.

Typical/Expected Experience:

  • Main office users have added the remote office's shared printers to their local PCs.
  • Remote location users log into the server at the main office via RDC. All their local printers are transferred over and are available for use. They are able to print to the Main Office because the server has all the printers from the print server available to it.

Actual Experience:

  • Users at the Main Office can print directly to the printers at the Remote Office
  • Users at the Remote Office can print directly to the printers at the Remote Office
  • Users at the Remote Office that are logged into the TS Server via RDC cannot print to the Remote Office Zebra printers.

Other Information:

  • The server seems to be the center-point to the problems. Whenever a user at the main office tries to print directly to the remote office, it works. It's only when anyone tries to print from the server to the remote office that the print fails.
  • I have tried to add the remote printers directly to the server, Windows is able to read the list of available printers from the IP address of the host PC, but when I try to add it, I get the error "Windows cannot connect to printer. Operation failed with error 0x000006b5."
  • One application, when trying to send the information directly to the remote printer, returns the following error: "Settings to access printer "{Printer address}" are not valid." But this same application when run on a Windows 10 PC will print to the Remote Office.
  • I tried disabling the Firewall on the Server - no change in behavior.

I'm at a loss as to how to proceed. Any help or ideas on how to print to the Zebra printers from the server would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
