Error 0xC004C003 during Windows activation

When I try to activate Windows it fails with error 0xC004C003. How can I diagnose this?

More information about what went wrong may be available from the slmgr command.

Run slmgr /ato.

  1. Press WinR to open the Run dialog.
  2. In the "Open" field, type cmd and click OK.
  3. In the Command Prompt, type the following command and press Enter:
    slmgr /ato
